How it started

How Bespoke Engineering was born.

At the age of 20 Royden had just finished his fitter turner apprenticeship. This set down the ground rules that he would use right through his engineering career it taught him precision and high quality workmanship. Moving out of the machine shop he set out for a new challenge, this time in the marine industry where he spent 10 years mastering the art of building aluminium boats. Eventually up skilling and becoming a 3D CAD designer that would go on to Royden creating a vast range of different boats, some of these would even win multiple awards at Auckland boat shows.

Right from the beginning there was always a drive for Royden to venture out and become his own boss creating his own products. He wanted to create a way to bring the whole family together after the sun had set and show his children what he enjoyed when I was younger. Hence the outdoor fire range was created. Roasting marshmallows on the campfire as a child had always been a lasting memory for Royden but he hated the fact that the smoke would always swing around and sting his eyes. That is when the fully customised outdoor fire came to life. It had to have some sort of chimney to direct the smoke as well as be portable and durable to move to different locations depending on what adventure was on hand. Tough enough to be able to withstand the intense heat as well as the knocks it would receive being transported from the ute to the beach, bach or backyard. The end result is what you see today something that ticks all the boxes. From here, the idea of the wood stacker was born this would compliment the fires perfectly. We currently have a range of base products for sale but love creating new and fully customised items.
